Kerry Avila, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
Kerry Avila is the Chief Financial Officer Treasurer at Tech-Marine Business, Inc. (TMB), headquartered in Washington, D.C. She has 28 years of progressive finance experience in support of both corporate operations and client requirements, including financial execution, budgeting and planning, contract administration, general accounting, and proposal development for corporate entities.
Ms. Avila began at TMB as a Contracts Administrator in 2008 and quickly rose to the role of Chief Financial Officer/Treasurer. In this role she is responsible for the integrity of financial information and systems, utilizing Unanet Project Financials. During her time at TMB, she has helped grow the company from a $15M to a $60M firm. She has led the company through 15 years of successful incurred cost submissions and audits, as well as corporate financial statement audits obtaining unqualified opinions.
Prior to TMB, Ms. Avila spent a total of 10 years at SYTEX, Inc. which was acquired by Lockheed Martin while she worked there in October 2005. She worked her way up to be the Business Operations Manager for the Information Dominance and Security Group (IDSG) directorate with a $75M annual budget. She managed and directed the business operations organization, and was responsible for all areas of finance, planning and financial estimating, contractual compliance, cost management, budget development, analyses and proposal support.
Ms. Avila previously spent six years providing direct support to various customer including Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) Information Assurance Applications Engineering Directorate and the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Chief Information Officer’s (CIO) Directorate. As an analyst she provided financial management and DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) support.
Ms. Avila holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from James Madison University. She also has a Certificate of Accounting from Northern Virginia Community College.
