Mr. Stephen Stewart to Join TMB as Chief Growth Officer (CGO)
Stephen (Steve) Stewart joins TMB on 03 May 2021 as our Chief Growth Officer (CGO) responsible for energizing the TMB business development culture. Reporting directly to the TMB Chief Executive Officer (CEO), he will identify and qualify a robust pipeline of focused opportunities that align both with current TMB business areas and new Navy Commands and organizations. Steve will develop and maintain strong customer relationships to identify objectives, priorities and requirements and position TMB as an innovative Industry leader, enhancing our relationships with large and small businesses in current and target markets. One of his most important responsibilities will be to teach business development and embed this critical capability throughout TMB. Steve will also work with the CEO to identify and conclude targeted acquisitions and assist with the due diligence process as well as the integration process post acquisition.
Steve has 40 years’ experience supporting Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport and other Warfare Centers as well as NAVSEA, NAVAIR and SPAWAR (now NAVWAR). He is exceptionally well qualified in the areas of operations and business development, including full operational management and Profit and Loss (P&L) stewardship. During his 40 years of Industry experience, he has held progressively more responsible technical and executive leadership positions including: Analyst, Project Lead, Program Manager, Business Development Manager, Operations Manager, Director, Vice President and Senior Vice President. He is also retired from the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport, where he was on the staff of the Commanding Officer, with corresponding accountability to NAVSEA 00K, as the Deputy Competition Advocate and Director, Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP). Steve understands the value of networking and participation in marketing and business development efforts. He has been an active member, at the leadership level, of local and national Industry Groups and associations such as: National Contract Management Association (NCMA), Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance (SENEDIA), Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), the NUWCDIVNPT Small Business Roundtable (SBRT), the NUWCDIVNPT SeaPort-e Council, the Tidewater Government Industry Council (TGIC), and the National Defense Industry Association (NDIA).
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Quantitative Methods and Management Science, with a Minor in Economics, from Salve Regina University and has completed Graduate courses in Management and Human Development at Salve Regina University. He has achieved the following certifications/qualifications: Competent Toastmaster (CTM); Shipley Associates Capture Planning for Strategic Wins; Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt; and DAWIA Level II (Contracting). Steve has also coached youth sports (baseball, soccer and basketball) from beginner-level to high school, where he worked hard to teach the skills and impart the knowledge needed to be competitive and successful. He was also a mentor for several Capstone/Senior Class Projects and brings this skillset to the workplace as well – where he has a passion for helping people achieve their potential. He and his wife Beth reside in Middletown, RI with their two sons and daughter.
